R&D

From the outset our mission has been to develop "Project Z" ideas in parallel with our core business work. We have always maintained an R&D division and we have so far seen two entire R&D teams become the seeds of two successful, independent companies.

The driver behind all our R&D activity in the fixed and mobile Internet space has been to find creative and innovative solutions to real-world problems, solutions that bring real benefits to businesses and to consumers. But finding clever solutions is not enough. The greatest challenge is to take complex technological solutions and to package and present them in a sufficiently simple form that they stand at least some chance of commercial success.

Our current R&D activity is focused on Doovle®, a new kind of video search.

Doovle Video Search

Doovle lets viewers watch and navigate around all kinds of video content in a uniquely non-linear way. Doovle lets your viewers find and watch the scenes they want using text search and visual scene browsing, instantly and easily. The patented Doovle video search engine has been developed especially for:

  IPTV Channels
  Film & Video Archives
  Educational Broadcasters
  Movie Info/Rental Sites
  Official TV Show Sites
  Corporate Training Resources

Doovle lets users search for words and phrases inside the content of all kinds of video and to see Google-like search results helping them find exactly what scene they want to watch. Every result can be clicked to make the video content play immediately from the relevant timing point.

Doovle is especially suited to long, full programmes and films rather than just short clips.

For large digital archives of video content, Doovle is an ideal off-site navigation tool with three unique functions:

  Soundtrack Text Search
  Scene (Stills) Browsing
  Assisted Scene Tagging

With Doovle's assisted scene tagging your administrators can prepare powerful, searchable indexes to help users locate any type of content in any size of archive.

With Doovle's automated soundtrack text search, your users can navigate quickly to specific scenes in which specific words are mentioned. With Doovle's scene browsing, users can find scenes they're looking for even when there is no soundtrack.

For pure archive research applications, Doovle can be tuned to deliver film clips of arbitrary length and in multiple languages with multilingual searching of the narrative and dialogue.
